Fifty volunteers took the oath to serve the humanity yesterday to revive the century- old Khudai Khidmatgar movement. Khudai Khidmatgar was started by Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan, freedom fighter famously known as Frontier Gandhi.
On the accession of of his 23rd death anniversary on January 20th, fifty volunteers under the leadership of Faisal Khan took the oath of serving the humanity without seeking any worldly desire. Tara Gandhi, graddaughter of Mahatma Gandhi and prominent peace activists and Gandhian V.K. Tripathi was present on the occasion. |

Noted Pashto fictionist and poetess Zaitoon Bano presided over the function held here at the Khyber Union Hall Islamia College University, Peshawar. She said Pashto language was still far from getting its due rights, only Pashtun poets and writers have had upheld the cause of Pashto language, mother tongue plays a vital role in shaping the destiny and psyche of nations. |

Shaheen Buneri Followers of the nonviolent Pashtun movement known as Khudai Khidmatgar Movement (Servants of God) are marking 23 years since the death of their legendary leader, Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan. In addition to celebrations in Pakistan and Afghanistan, peace gatherings, discussions, and seminars are being held in Europe, United States, and the Middle East to pay tribute to a beloved leader who admirers say dedicated his life to social, political, economic, and cultural emancipation for Pashtuns. |
