the owners of avt khyber are not pashtuns. this channel has a great contribution in punjabising the pashtun cultureI was shocked to have the bitter experience of listenig to some programs transmitted by AVT KHYBER.
This channel was initiated to Pakistanise Pakhtuns by indoctrinating the false sense of territorial nationhood in them ,as Pakthuns used to listen to the credible news of BBC instead of the ISPR type of propaganda news which it seems are transmitted after getting a green signal from the scrutiny of GHQ.
The following observations stunned me and paralysed by reflexes.
1) The News in Urdu iare in a clear font while that in Pashto are in a very un intelligible font giving a strong impression of being incredible news.
2) The overall theme of the news and programs is Non Pashto oriented while majority of the programs gives an impression of Urdu ,Hindko,Seraiki,Koshitani etc languages.
For example "Janob nama" shows as if seraiki is the dominant language there and Pakhtuns are just living as a peaceful minority.
Another program about Swat was in hindko language.Still another one was in Chitrali / Kohistani language. The nightmare was when I saw "Khushbo-e- Gandhara" which was about the nucleus of Pakhtuns like Charsadda,Mardan ,Swabi. There was another "Baab-e-Khyber" and "Dil Pishori "and "Da Qissa khwani gup" ,the list goes on.
Whats going on?Have the Pakhtun audience lost all senses not to retaliate on any step aimed at diminishing our culture ,land and history.
If we have repect for all languages and cultures does it mean that we leave ours and adopt and adore other cultures and languages?
Why on earth would then AVT Khyber claim to be the First "PASHTO" Channel.
I press upon the team of the Avt Khyber either not to claim being the sole representative of Pakhtun culture and language or atleast be honest and stop claiming it if they are aiming at Pakistanising Pakhtuns , a dream which has no intrinsic germs of getting realised.
Lastly I condem the policy of Islamabad not to give lincense to any other private channel to start its transmission in Pashto seeing that others channel owners will counter their propaganda and realising the fact that the owners do not have the brains and balls to retaliate against this autocratic policy.
I sympathise with ANP and Jamal Shah who strived their best but could not start their own channel due to lack of skills to counter the anti Pakhtuns strategy of Islamabad.
