ANP MPA Akhtar Nawaz shot dead

PESHAWAR: A member of NWFP Assembly from Awami National Party and former provincial minister Akhtar Nawaz Khan was killed by unknown gunmen.

The ANP MPA was seriously injured by unknown motorcyclists when he was returning after attending a funeral. He was shifted to local hospital where he was succumbed to his injuries.

The CM Pakhtunkhwa Mr. Ameer Haider Khan Hot has expressed grief over the incident and ordered investigation of the murder of the ANP leader.

PESHAWAR, Sept 10 (APP): Former Minister and Member NWFP Assembly, Akhtar Nawaz Khan was shot-dead by armed assailants at Kalabutt Township in District Haripur on Wednesday night, DPO Muhammad Hussain Khan confirmed.
“Akthar Nawaz was attacked near his house by two gunmen waiting in a motorcar at Kalabut Township before Iftari and received critical bullet wounds.

The tragic incident occurred when the former Minister was about to enter his home after attending the funeral prayer of a well wisher,” The DPO said.

Resultantly, he said Akhtar Nawaz and his injured bodyguard Aurangzaib was rushed to District Hospital Haripur where the lawmaker succumbed to his bullet wounds. He said that old enmity was the motive behind the cold blooded murder. The valerian politician Akhtar Nawaz remained Minister for Transport in MMA government and was considered as an active parliamentarian. The senior police officer said that two accused has been arrested in connection with the murder.

Clarification

Akhter Nawaz Khan was not ANP activist or got success on platform of ANP. In last election, he was elected as independent candidate and then joined Jamiat Ulemai Islam (Noorani) just for getting ministry on platform of MMA. Now he was elected as Independent candidate and joined ANP.
