The best place to go to answer your questions is to join bdmilitary.com forum and post there. These Bengali officers in the western wing were generally considered a liability and were put under military detention. After the end of the war, many Bengalis from the western wing were allowed to peacefully go back to East Bengal, by then Bangladesh. Pakhtoons are remembered for being particularly loyal to their Bengali comrades and being more humane than the crueler and more wicked Punjabis.
