AVT Khyber- A Welcome Change

For last few months I noticed a very positive change in AVT Khyber programmes. Admittedly, there are still many objectionable aspects but somehow I still admire their approach for highlighting Pukhtuns problems, their miseries and above all they even slam establishment’s policy considered inimical to Pukhtun's cause.
Today I was watching a music programme. When I heard the material in the music I was shocked for while as how that kind of material can be shown so openly.

Pukhtana khor, I hope you know about AVT Khyber, I am asking you because you even dont know Sher Shah Suri (my favourite Pukhtun personality), I dont blame you for being grown up in UK, I understand that.

Infact I know, there are many Pukhto songs which may be very common but we cannot hear/see such songs on media. They are highly revolutionary songs (inqilaabi) but I saw all such music on AVT Khyber. That was really amazing.

Well honestly maybe you should give me credit for caring this much about my pashto and learning at least kana, at least us pukhtanas born and brought up abroad care this much ab out our pashto, unlike some who were born and brought up back home and don't know jack :tongue:

Well if i didnt know who he was, since he was your favourite personality, i'm sure you would have at least enjoyed telling me and singing his praises, instead of stropping off! :tongue:

Speaking of revolutionary songs, i saw a pukhtu song sang in a nice modern style on The Musik ( ary's music channel) that i think could appeal to even non pukhtuns, but the video was all rubbish and had the usual beghairats.

Oh well, nothing is ever perfect!

Though I dont blame you, but anybody who know that he/she is a Pukhtun they must know the Great Sher Shah Suri. Dont worry I am going to open a separate thread on him.

Well I never knew Pukhtuna would ask me such question otherwise I would have remembered those songs. It was a local Majlis organized in a vilage of a Swat. One of the song was something like "daa paak wathan azadawal ghwarhi" or may be slightly different.

All the music on ARY is crap. Why Pukhto music should be appealing to non-Pukhtuns. All non-Pukhtuns should develop the taste gearing into Pukhto music.
In any Pukhto music if you dont have "Rabaab" and "dolkai or even Mongai", you can never get a real touch of Pukhto music.

dont blame me for inturrupting, but you shouldn't have any credit in learning pushto while in UK, how can some one forget his/her mother tongue, i am sure your mom will defintely be speaking pashto at home. you are just a right thing learning a language of your father and fore fathers. thats it.

I think it will be a bit unfair blaming people of 2nd /3rd generation living abroad who can't speak Pashtu. Probably the fault lies with their parents..but even they must have had their compulsions. And Pukhtana definitely desrves the credit for getting back anmd trying to learn it..and keeping in touch. I find those living here in the midst of Pukhtuns and speaking to their children in Urdu and English....they are the real culprits....and there are plenty of them.
