Born in Charsadda in 1914, this great son of the Pakhtun soil was not only a great poet but also a versatile aesthete who expressed his artistic rectitude in prose, painting and sculpture. Colour, life, love and ecstasy are the highlights of his poetry; vividness, candour, austerity and propriety are the features of his prose; his paintings and sculptures have a vivacious rigour that makes them breath an eternal verve assuring the superiority of art over life. Revolution and rebellion are the essence of his gleeful art. The enigma of this great artist, shaped by his internal whims and tinged with his sensitive and intricate aesthetics, is, however, not always simple to decipher, above all, he is a philosopher as well – Lewanay Falsafi Ghani Khan Baba.
Ghani Khan Baba died on 15 March, 1996.
